Gael Mari Founder & President of Gm

With over 18 years of experience, Gael Mari founded GM Construction with one mission in mind—customer service at its peak. Satisfying customers means the world to Gael in every project, no matter how small or big. His goal was to combine design and build under one roof with one point person. As a result, GM Construction was born under his watchful, steadying eye.

Gael’s career started many years earlier in a different country. Gael’s parents are both French, but he was born and raised in Quebec. He speaks French, English, and Spanish and has excelled in academics and sports from an early age. He became an Apprentice Carpenter in 2000 in Montreal and later became an Assistant Carpenter and earned a Diploma of Professional Studies from the Construction Trade School of Montreal as well as a Certified Apprentice Carpenter certificate. Gael started his career as a gifted carpenter with an array of trim and finish carpentry skills and continued his growth by becoming a certified Building Contractor in 2014. He has become a master at managing complicated construction projects, as well as looking at a project from the big picture while simultaneously being mindful of the details that make each project run smoothly and meet his high standard of craftsmanship.

Joining design and build under one roof has made managing construction project lifecycles easier and more efficient than ever. Under Gael’s management, GM has evolved into the go-to source in its space, specializing in large-scale remodels, designs, and builds in the Tampa-area. He attributes his success to deductive and analytical skills, being experienced at a variety of trades, and having a great team of craftsman, tradespeople, subcontractors, architects, designers, and engineers behind him.

Under his management, GM has evolved into a pioneer in the construction industry. As he looks to the future, he envisions taking on larger projects as well as helping to successfully steer GM into the future with his wife by his side. It’s like the “Great One,” Wayne Gretsky once said, “You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.”

Lane Mari VP & LEad Designer

Lane Mari is an out-of-the-box, creative thinker with a flair for design and commitment to serving her clients' needs and wants. Born in Portland, Oregon, her parents moved to Tampa when she was three years old. She’s been interested in beautiful spaces as well as art, travel, dance, and music ever since.

She has worked alongside her husband over the years and assisted with the design elements in various projects. Later, in 2018, she became VP and Lead Designer for GM. She enjoys getting to know clients and assisting them at each phase of a project from ideation to completion.

Perhaps it’s due to her background in art or art history. Perhaps it’s due to being a mother and understanding how to manage wants and needs, or perhaps it’s due to her love of exploring new places. Regardless of the why, Lane has relished in her role as Lead Designer and VP and has assisted with dozens of flips, remodels, and other design-builds.  Since joining, the firm’s growth has been exponential, and, in the coming years, GM plans to branch out into larger commercial design-builds including restaurants and bars.

Her favorite projects are total home renovations. She excels at project management, space planning, material selection, managing the myriad of strategic relationships, and more. She is a master at getting the most out of every dollar—and accentuating a home’s natural charm with tasteful elements. She’s a lover of nature and enjoys infusing natural elements into every new space she touches. She’s also committed to sourcing ethically and environmentally friendly products. Her style is modern and comfortable yet minimalistic. She is completely self-taught, which is a testament to her drive, her vision, and her enthusiasm for design.
